We bless the God of Israel
Who comes to redeem His people
He raises up a mighty Saviour
Within His servant David's house
The prophets spoke in ages past
His saving word is now fulfilled
Deliverance from those who hate us
And freedom from their hostile hands

Dawn of mercy, Christ our Saviour
Holy Child, our promised Light
Shine upon Your waiting people
Guide our feet in paths of peace

He keeps the promise to our fathers
And honours His own covenant
The oath He swore to Abraham
From hostile hands He sets us free
To serve Him gladly, unafraid
In holiness and righteousness
Before Him all our living days

Dawn of mercy, Christ our Saviour
Holy Child, our promised Light
Shine upon Your waiting people
Guide our feet in paths of peace

And you, child, shall prepare His pathway
The prophet of the Lord Most High
John, you shall tell of His salvation
Through sins forgiven by His grace

God's tender mercy brings the dawn
The light of heaven drawing near
To shine on those in death's dark shadow
And lead our feet in paths of peace

Dawn of mercy, Christ our Saviour
Holy Child, our promised Light
Shine upon Your waiting people
Guide our feet in paths of peace

Guide our feet in paths of peace
